Berlin

Berlin has many fascinating and enjoyable places that frequently fly under the radar of overseas visitors. There are interesting neighbourhoods to visit, city lakes, rivers, islands and forests to explore or you can just get friendly with the locals at some atmospheric beer garden or out of the way courtyard eateries.

Berlin is a vibrant city full of historic buildings and breathtakingly modern architecture. Garmisch Partenkirchen

This quaint little town which is one of the destinations in our Germany Tour has got it all. Picturesque countryside, views to Germany's highest mountain and proximity to Oberammergau and King Ludwig's castle Neuschwanstein.

Take the cog-wheel train to the top of the Zugspitze and go tobogganing on the glacier. At nightfall join a guided walk with flame-torches into a dramatic gorge. This idyllic place is a dream come true for hikers or those who just want to enjoy a gentle stroll through alpine meadows, visit rustic mountain huts and indulge in hearty Bavarian fare.

Lake Constance

The lake is bordered by Austria, Switzerland and Germany and you could easily spend a few enchanting weeks exploring all that this region has to offer. Criss-cross the lake by boat and visit quaint lake-side villages, stone-age lake dwellings, medieval towns with half-timbered houses, vineyards, cliff-top castles and the spectacular flower island of Mainau. In Bregenz take the cable car up to Mount Pfaender for spectacular views across the lake and the Alps. If you are in Europe in December than a visit to the Christmas markets along the lake would be a very special experience. And not to be missed is the annual Bregenz Festival, where an opera is performed on the world’s largest floating stage.

Nuremberg

Nuremberg is a truly medieval city that frequently flies under the radar. Roam the courtyards and small cobble-stoned streets packed with old timber-framed houses. Explore its castle, dungeon, moats and the inner city surrounded by 80 towers. Head off into the countryside along the scenic 'Castle Road' and romantic rivers and twisting valleys, dotted with fairy-tale castles, palaces and most importantly Rothenburg, one of Europe's best preserved medieval towns.

Nuremberg has Europe's most enchanting and authentic Christmas Market where you can soak up its historic charm as well as the aroma of roasting chestnuts and gingerbread.
